The cuvée Retour des îles is 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. No added sulphur, no filtration, no fining. Aged for 1 year in barrique than sailing on a boat for 9 to 10 months. Yes, sailing on a boat.
Every year, at Château le Puy they select a few barriques and take them off on a sailing tour of the Atlantic. So the wine enjoys the benefits of the wind and the waves. It's the only Cargo without engine in the world. The vinification cannot be more atypical. Definitely unique.
It has a dark, dense garnet colour. It has powerful ripe red berry aromas. The wine is remarkably well-balanced, full-bodied, persistent and fleshy on the palate, offering a full expression of the fruit and smooth, mellow tannins.
Extremely low production: 1'200 bottles a year.
