Clos de la Roche is the largest and arguably the finest of the five grands crus of Morey Saint Denis, sitting on the mid-slopes of the Côte de Nuits immediately north of Morey Saint Denis village. It is a perennial highlight of the Marchand Tawse range, year after year delivering one of the most compelling expressions of this extraordinary terroir. 2016 was a legendary vintage in the Côte de Nuits despite brutal spring frosts, with the low yields producing wines of extraordinary concentration, energy and ageing potential that are already being called one of the greatest vintages of the century.

Deep ruby with a complex and captivating nose of ripe black cherry, graphite, crushed stone, dark spice and a brooding mineral depth. On the palate the wine has remarkable shape, concentration and energy, with fine integrated tannins, penetrating acidity and a deep, layered finish of exceptional length. Excellent value for a Burgundy Grand Cru of this pedigree. Built to age for 20 years and beyond.
