100% Pinot Noir. 18 months in one year old French oak, 20% new. From 4 parcels: Les Pressonniers, Les Crais, Jouise and Les Seuvrées.
Gevrey Chambertin is the most celebrated red wine village in Burgundy, home to nine grands crus and a terroir that produces Pinot Noir of extraordinary depth, structure and longevity. Marchand Tawse's village cuvée draws from four carefully selected lieux-dits around the village, each contributing a different facet to the blend. 2022 was a generous, open-knit vintage that brought out Gevrey's classic character at its most approachable, with beautiful fruit, silky tannins and a savory mineral backbone.
Deep ruby with an expressive nose of wild dark berries, earthy forest floor, subtle spice and a fine mineral tension that is unmistakably Gevrey. On the palate the wine is tense and beautifully structured, with dark fruit, silky tannins and a long, focused finish. A serious Gevrey that drinks well now and will reward patience over the next decade. For a village-level Burgundy of this character, the value on offer is remarkable.
Perfect with beef carpaccio, mushroom risotto, duck confit or aged hard cheeses.
