The crown jewel of Domaine Milan. The Clos vineyard is the highest in elevation on the property and the most influenced by the Alpilles mountains, laden with mineral-rich limestone. Its sandy and gravelly soils, more akin to those of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, bring both warmth and real ageing potential.
Subtle and elegant aromas of dark fruit, herbs, and black olive are woven into a structured but fresh palate, with a Burgundy-like quality that makes it drink very easily despite its depth. Rich red and black fruit, cocoa, and lightly spicy notes carry through to an incredibly long finish.
It shines alongside slow-roasted lamb with herbes de Provence, a charcoal-grilled côte de bœuf, or a traditional daube de bœuf Provençal with olives and orange zest. Aged hard cheeses like Ossau-Iraty are a natural match too.
Ageing potential 10+ years.
