Le Jardin Rouge

100% Merlot. 5 day skin contact followed by 12 months in 500 litre oak barrels. The vines grow on clay-limestone soils over blue marl subsoil.

A provocateur in the best sense. Henri Milan believes passionately that his vineyard can produce a wine to rival Bordeaux at its finest, and Le Jardin is his proof. 

Le Jardin is a wine of finesse and concentration in equal measure. Dark fruit and truffle on the nose carry through to the palate, where the tannins are fine and silky and the finish long and elegant.  

Notes of ripe red and black fruits, wild strawberry, plum, subtle truffle, fine leather, and undergrowth build to a persistent finish of candied dark fruit, warm spice, and a salivating hint of liquorice. 

Perfect with a slow-braised osso buco or a fine cut of beef.

The production is tiny at around 2,500 bottles per year.
