Gewürztraminer & Pinot Gris.
This is a Gewürztraminer that evokes “Cris & Chuchotements” and “Deux Couleurs : Orange” positioned harmoniously between those two expressions. Yannick wanted to recapture the wine’s fluidity and drinkability while preserving that saline, refined finish that defines my style.
The blend is half Gewürztraminer 2023 and half Gewürztraminer 2024, with a touch of Pinot Gris. The wine comes from the same clay-limestone parcel across two contrasting vintages — a warm year balancing a cool one.
Gewürztraminer 2023: one week of whole grapes, followed by daily punch-downs for another week until all the sugars were consumed, then pressing and aging in a century-old oak cask. The wine reveals a sunny character without excess.
Gewürztraminer 2024: harvested early at 11°, with the same winemaking process as the 2023. Seeking a particular vibrancy — and true to my past bold experiments — I completely filled the vat with grapes to encourage the development of surface acetate. It was then transferred to a century-old cask, where slight bacterial activity, combined with the acetate, transformed the wine into a true fruit concentrate.
These two expressions of the same terroir, once blended, create something succulent and delicious, reminiscent of the aroma of a bag of marshmallows.
In short, it’s delicious.
Unfined, unfiltered, without added sulphites.
