50% Pecorino, 50% Trebbiano. Few hours of skin contact. Aged in barrique. Vines planted in 2014 on limestone and clay soil.
Casanova takes its name from a new vineyard plot that Davide and Marco began working, bringing a different expression to the Lammidia range. The wine sits squarely in the light orange wine territory, though with a light touch that keeps it fresh and mineral rather than heavy or tannic.
Expect a touch of saltiness coming through, with a little herbaceous twist. In the glass it is amber gold, hazy and alive.
Notes of dried apricot, bruised pear, white flowers, and a stony minerality that speaks clearly of altitude and limestone soils.
There is a tart citrus core running through it, kept lively by Trebbiano’s natural acidity, while the Pecorino contributes a savory, almost almond-like depth on the finish.
The overall impression is taut, mineral, and calm, carried by herbal notes and a fine saltiness.
As with everything from Lammidia, it is bottled unfiltered and without added sulphites, so the wine has a natural vitality and movement in the glass.
Casanova’s mineral salinity and gentle texture make it a natural partner for the sea.
It shines alongside grilled whole fish, octopus salad dressed with lemon and olive oil, or a plate of mixed raw shellfish.
On land it works beautifully with aged sheep’s milk cheeses, charcuterie, or dishes with earthy, herbal flavors such as a frittata with wild greens or pasta with truffle. Its structure also holds up well against fried food, cutting through richness with ease. A versatile and genuinely food-friendly light orange wine.
